Web page addresses and e-mail addresses turn into links automatically. Computer games have reached an immersive level of detail and storytelling. Many times more immersive than major motion pictures. Based on the art in this book, this game looks amazing and terrifying. In fact at this moment I'm even calling it my favorite game this year. The Last of Us combines a richly detailed world with a strong plot, likable characters and just enough Horror to create something unique, scary and beautiful all at the same time. Well let me tell you, I devoured this book in one sitting.
From conception to screen the detail that went into The Last of Us is truly amazing. I loved seeing the evolution of not just the world but the characters as well. I even learned a few facts along the way that in all my Googling I didn't know. So just a heads up if you haven't played the game yet you might want to do so before reading. If you loved The Last of Us and want to learn more about Joel, Ellie and the world then I highly suggest picking up this book. It's mainly filled with concept art that includes notes from the designers.

Fans of The Last of Us. I honestly loved looking at the art in this book, the process of creating the scenery, the storyline, and the characters. The beginning and the end product and the journey between those two points. All points are absolutely stunning and I am soooo glad I bought this book. Awesome really cool art although concept art is really much about doing things quick so it has a lot of models in copy paste mode cool tough.
Jul 01, Janus the Erudite Artist rated it really liked it Shelves: The Last of Us has been the talk of the gaming world ever since the news came out of its upcoming release. How dare I, right? In my defense, I am working in a company that involves game designing. In fact, you even end up rarely playing or not playing at all. Since I mentioned about my job, research and inspiration comes with the territory.
This is the part where we say the rest is history, but I need to elaborate. I was thrilled to be granted access to view this before it got published. Oh, the joy of flipping through this book! I love that several intricate details were given out to attest to fans and readers. That person was not me. For more of my reviews, please visit my blog: The Blair Book Project www. Jul 25, Alaina rated it it was amazing. The Last of Us has been a greatly talked about video game since its announcement, and it released recently to break sales records, get some flawless reviews, and to get handed a number of rewards.
I have yet to play the game, but was intrigued by the idea of the Infected and the crumbling of civilization to be nature-based, as well as the father-daughter-type relationship of the main characters, Ellie and Joel. The art book is superb as well, and gives me high hopes for the game, making me want t The Last of Us has been a greatly talked about video game since its announcement, and it released recently to break sales records, get some flawless reviews, and to get handed a number of rewards.
The art book is superb as well, and gives me high hopes for the game, making me want to play it all-the-more. It is a well-balanced book in the information it provides as well as the layout. It is divided into the sections, such as the main character, various settings, marketing, and so forth.
Each section provides us with a huge array of information, from how they designed characters major and minor, to choosing weapons that accurately portrayed the feel of the story, and how nature took over all these various areas of the game. They included early concepts that were scraped - such as alien-like fungus shooting the spore to cause the Infected.
My favorite parts of the book were the in-depth analysis of how nature took over abandoned civilization and the look at the Infected. Everything about the nature takeover was well thought out. The clouds and lack of sunlight were key to the feel. Contrasting places like grand ballrooms, abandoned universities, and children's rooms against fallen trees and creeping vines gave a very real look at how the world would be after civilization became lacking.
The Art of The Last of Us
The studies of the Infected and the various incarnations of the fungus was fascinating, as it provided many examples of character design and development. The Infected are eerie and unsettling in the best way. This art book is great! If you're into video games and their development, it is perfect to see how concept art evolves from sketches into the real deal. If you're any sort of artist, it's also a great reference book for things like scenery, character design, and weaponry.
Oct 19, Connor Redhead rated it really liked it. This art book has a lot of reading it took me a week to read but it let a lot of insite on the game's development that just wasn't there the "making of the last of us" was more of a lecture than "the making of the last of us". It wasn't as good as the american dreams comic or the making of the last of us, and even vs the beyond two souls art book, minecraft guides, and the posters my graphics card came with.
But Neil Druckman did well again and it feels like a naughty dog game contained in a c This art book has a lot of reading it took me a week to read but it let a lot of insite on the game's development that just wasn't there the "making of the last of us" was more of a lecture than "the making of the last of us". It got 4 stars because it was good in it awkward corner of the gaming world but it wasn't at its full potential. Another down side of this is that if your didn't like the last of us you'll hate this because your shooting in the dark kinda but regardless it doesn't leave you hanging.
My favorite part was when you see the game really come together. I learned that they used haxor a ton just like "skyrim" and "uncharted 3" im glad there moving away from this for "uncharted 4" and that joel and ellie when though hundreds of revisions. If you like the last of us and you like pretty pictures and computer slang this book is perfect for you but that inculed me,Linus Tech Tips, and Angry Joe so just me.
Aug 14, Parka rated it it was amazing Shelves: I also have the Uncharted 2 art book and I love that book. I love this one too. This book is packed with character designs and environment art. The concept art is top notch. All the characters and infected are drawn out in detail and colour. There are various designs for each character. The infected, if you have not played the game, are not traditional zombies. They have been infected by some deadly fungus that grows and consumes the human body.
You get to see some interesting and scary designs that you would not get from typical zombies. The environment art are painted with astonishing amount of detail that makes everything seem so real. There are the devastated towns, rundown buildings, deserted streets and ransacked rooms. Most scenes depicted will make you wonder what the hell happened there. The level of realism you see here is unmatched even by big budget movie sets. Spoilers appear in the book either as text or pictures. So definitely play the game first before going through the book.
Other than that, there's not much text except the occasional comments on the art and game. This is a fantastic video game art book. Oh, play the game first if you can. Jul 22, Sandra rated it it was amazing Shelves: The game took 3,5 years to make and the hard work shows. I really liked how the book was designed, the inside and the outside.
The Art Of The Last Of Us : Naughty Dog Studios :
There were some beautiful pictures and screenshots of the game. The art is beautiful, I just wanted to play the game after finishing the game. The book starts with an introduction by game director Bruce Straley and creative director Neil Druckmann. There is not a lot of text in the book in general, but there is just a little bit of explanation with the pictures, but that is good enough.
I personally loved seeing the evolution of the characters.
