The character development was perfect, the story progressed nicely yet maintained fun. I didn't like the choice to include foul language, and the descriptions of sexual arousal were on the edge, but I understand that the author was intending to make the story realistic. I liked this book but was concerned a little with the Christian brook promo, as I am non religious, and sometimes Christian books preach religion too much. There were no noticeable hints a religion which was a plus.
In Love's Territory
One reviewer went on about it being a bad Christian book. That is not the case from that standpoint either. This book has no visible cussing I can remember, and really the most inappropriate content was a kiss. I would say this is a good read for all ages. In Love's Territory reads as if it's written for a pg audience, where good is good, and evil is evil, with no shades of gray. Katie Taylor was a girl enjoying a life on the East Coast when her father suddenly announced that due to his brother's death out in Wisconsin, they are all moving out to Wisconsin. Now with no friends except pen pals, Katie is despondent, even as she came to know to eligible bachelors Edward Carter, a local educated and rich businessman who had taken a liking to her, and Sam, a half-Sioux farmhand who has big plans for himself and had been learning about how to better his life.
Katie liked Edward well enough, but was angry when Edward forced her hand when announcing their engagement when she wanted to think about it some more. But the more she come to know Sam, the more fond of Sam she is Now she had to choose between two bachelors Nice adventure, no sex, but it does have foul language and suggestive situations. Though the characters are a bit shallow, IMHO. Edward was just nasty, with no redeeming qualities, while Sam's all good, almost NO evil qualities.
It's a bit too And that means the characters are flat as pancakes. This is a story about Kate whose mother had passed away the year before. She comes from an affluent family and lives with her father and siblings. Needless to say Kate was not happy about this. They arrived in Wisconsin and that is where this story becomes very interesting. Happily there is an epilogue.

The language was too modern and didn't fit the time at all, then unfortunately, the story put me to sleep.
Probably good for younger adults to read. Mar 13, Eric L. Crowell rated it it was amazing. You get frustrated when she's with the wrong guy. But the right guy may be to slow to get the girl. I wished for more relationships with the help, they were interesting.

See a Problem?
I don't see many novels set in this area. BUT I just couldn't bring myself to like Katie or any of the characters. I actually ended up skimming most of the book and nothing grabbed my attention. Jun 20, Megan rated it liked it Shelves: There were a few "are you really that stupid" moments but I suppose the story wouldn't have been the same without them. Overall not bad but not impressive. Sep 26, Eileen E Cartwright rated it liked it. Nice love story This was a pleasant love story with some action and excitement thrown in.
I wish there had been more about life in Wisconsin at that time. Also I had never read about people who settled in the West at that time who had servants wait on them hand and foot. Jul 16, Ljb rated it it was amazing Shelves: Sweet story I love a clean romance. This story was nicely written, without typos or grammatical errors. The characters had personality and were likeable. I'd reccommend this to anyone who looking for a heartwarming read without sex or swearing.

After a few missteps with the wrong man, Kate realized that Sam was the only man for her. There was mystery, love, intrigue, close family, assault and bullying. Loved this old west story.
