They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the Lord has spoken: The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master's crib, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.
Gathering Together (Or When God Calls A Meeting)
They have forsaken the Lord , they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are utterly estranged. Why will you still be struck down? Why will you continue to rebel? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. They shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed. And Moses did as the Lord commanded him, and the congregation was assembled at the entrance of the tent of meeting. But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.
When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus,. Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day, and he prolonged his speech until midnight. For they will deliver you over to councils, and you will be beaten in synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them. Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.
He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,. But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,.
Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers,. That their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ,.
If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds? And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. Well, concerning our lack of programs that we have to offer, last Wednesday night, some of our young boys, ages 20 often pray out loud in prayer meetings which is open for any of the brethren to pray.
Do we ask them to pray?

The Lord does, and they respond. Yes, they learn much from watching the older saints serve and worship the Lord, and then the Lord leads them to do the same. People today look for a church like they are going shopping. Trying to find what satisfies them. Well, what are they looking for? Something that appeals to them. Some look for entertainment.
Some look for potential friends and good social activities. Some will be impressed by the appearance of the building, by the music, by the programs offered. This is why so many go out shopping for a church. They wanted to see a miracle. People want to hear a powerful preacher or see something going on. They want to see some excitement.
Why were they seeking the Lord? Many followed because of the miracles, but here was a crowd that followed because of what they could get out of it. When God looks down on Hico, He sees all kinds of people going to different churches under their own power being drawn by amusement, entertainment, programs, preachers, people, buildings, tradition, and so on.
But, he sees one little gathering that has one drawing power. First, The Bible clearly teaches that God made a distinction between His people and the world Lev The New Testament refers to some people being inside the church and some people being outside the church 1 Cor. The church in Corinth consisted of a definite number of believers, such that Paul could speak of a punishment inflicted by the majority 2 Cor. Second, the Epistles were all written to local churches. Grace to you and peace. Third, Christ saves Christians to live in community with other believers.
Christ calls believers to local church membership not just for our spiritual growth, but also so that they may use their spiritual gifts in the context of the local church.
Fourth, it was the model of the early church. Some people think that meeting together with other Christians is not important because the early Church only gathered in small groups in Acts 2: However, this view ignores history. As the Church continued to grow, they gathered together in large gatherings. There were small group meetings, but there were also large gatherings.
The Church is comprised of people who have been regenerated by the work of the Spirit. The people of God are to gather to worship together in Spirit and Truth, to hear the preached Word, participate in communion, baptism, and then scatter to spread the Great Commission in their families, neighborhoods, cities, and to the nations. While local churches may have many issues, the Church itself is purchased by Christ to be counted blameless. The members inside the Church are justified sinners , meaning they are made right with God through the blood of Jesus but still growing in Christ-like character.
Finally, there is no lone-ranger version of Christianity; we are called to Christian community. Those who object the loudest to this often think that they can be Christians and not be in the Church. From even a cursory examination of the Scriptures, the lone-ranger view of being a Christian is not biblical. Christ saves Christians to live in community with other believers.
Christ calls believers to membership in the local church not only for their own spiritual growth but to use our spiritual gifts in the context of the local church. He and his wife, Sarah, are members of Ustick Baptist Church in Boise, Idaho, where he and his wife serve in a variety of ministries.

It reminds me how very many times I was thankful to God that I was born into a church going family. As I look back I know that foundation was so very helpful to me as I was growing up in ways that occur profoundly to me now. It has been so difficult to find a new church home here.
I loved my church home before moving here to care for my mom who is bed ridden and my first inclination was to visit all the community churches all the time. Being the local librarian I get to see many of my dear brothers and sisters in Christ from many different denominations at the library and I began to feel rather like taffy being pulled.

I have to honestly say that mans abandonment of bible study and God centered worship rather than dogmatic denominationalism really bothers me. Having said that I can also very honestly say not having a church home is weighing heavy on my heart and your post is an opportunity to request prayers and seek guidance from God on this matter.
There is a necessity of a meeting place. If it is accessible, it is situated nearby. Local government is administered through ordinances and laws that must be complied with. The compulsions of this world come into the assembly and mingle with others at various levels of their walk with Jesus. The world will build an edifice, a name, a denomination with pride and ownership.
The church of Jesus is not of this world. Communication of the Gospel in varieties of media are convenient and freely accessible in a large area of the world and prohibited in other areas. So the labor required is evident. The Good News, the Gospel of peace with God must be communicated. Jesus is not a denomination, sect or buildings that are exclusive, that bring requirements and restrictions. This does not prevent churches yet they are not the purpose.
I did not grow up in a church-going family. However, I was saved at the age of 13 and was adopted by several mothers along the way in my walk with the Lord who made sure that I stayed grounded. Howver, I have had a hard time finding a church that my family and I can be apart of. So, while I am looking, I have been working to build my relationship with God. I have visited churches where I could feel the pull for me to join their church. But I want to be prayerful to be planted in the right soil.
Hi Rachel, I will definitely pray for both of us and all of us. God is so good. I have all faith that each of us when guided by the Holy Spirit will obey, let His light shine through us to a dark world and that prayer and putting HIS word above all will bless us and guide us in every way as He uses us to do His will.

Great piece of writing. Unfortunately the leaders of many churches are forgetting something…they need to be held accountable. Many epistles and personal visits were used for this reason. Many pastors today act above any truth. Many leaders tell everone they are doing Gods will all the time. This is how some justify all the people they hurt. Through lies and manipulation while they seek their own success.
I agree with all that was written and would add the checks and balance. This also is biblical. Tess, I too have attended many churches. I do not agree with the denomination of my current church yet I am a loved member by all the congregation. Without ostentation I do not participate in that which offends and am not critical.
